The third run of the Raffles Community Leadership Forum happened 8-10 June 2010, and Bernise was invited back as speaker once more to be part of a panel discussion on youth advocacy.
This year, the conference theme was on advocacy - what advocacy involves and how students can go about advocating for issues they're passionate about. In their words, "we want students to learn more about advocacy – the problems they may face, how to deal with these problems, how – so that they can be better prepared to start advocating."
Bernise spoke about the she's done, and the issues of advocacy – how could one successfully advocate, what skills youths should develop to increase their effectiveness in advocacy, how advocacy enables them to make a difference in the community. She also shared her personal journey – how she got involved in activism, what her personal experience was like.
Kudos to the Raffles Community Advocates, the CCA behind the conference!
